Lara Stone

Lara Catherina Stone, born on 20 December 1983, is a Dutch fashion model known for her prominent advertising campaigns, high-profile magazine covers, and extensive runway work. Born in Geldrop, Netherlands, to a Dutch mother, Kathryna, and an English father, Michael Stone, she grew up in the small town of Mierlo. Over the course of her career, she has been represented by major modeling agencies, including Elite Model Management, IMG Models, and The Lions.

Stone was discovered at the age of 12 in the Paris Metro while traveling on holiday with her family. In 1999, at age 15, she competed in the Elite Model Look contest. Although she did not win the competition, she attracted the interest of agency executives, who signed her to Elite Model Management.

In 2006, Stone transitioned to IMG Models worldwide. She made her catwalk debut in January 2006 during Paris Fashion Week at Riccardo Tisci's Givenchy couture show. Later that year, she secured an exclusive contract with Calvin Klein. By April 2007, she landed on the cover of Vogue Paris and was referred to by fashion critic Cathy Horyn as the "anti-model." Over the next few years, she walked in shows for houses such as Chanel, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Balmain, Christopher Kane, and Prada, while securing major campaigns for brands including Belstaff, Hugo Boss, Givenchy, and Jil Sander.

Stone achieved heightened global success between 2009 and 2011. Vogue Paris selected her as one of the top 30 models of the 2000s, and W magazine featured her on its August 2009 cover as "Fashion's It Girl." In 2010, she became the face of Prada's Infusion d'Iris fragrance and signed an exclusive deal covering three Calvin Klein brands for fall 2010. Her distinctive aesthetic influenced industry trends, and she won Model of the Year at the 2010 British Fashion Awards.

From Spring 2010 to Summer 2012, Stone held the number one spot on models.com's "Top 50 Models" list before being moved to their "Industry Icons" list. She debuted on Forbes' World's Top-Earning Models list at number seven for the 2010–2011 period. Stone was also featured in the 2010, 2011, and 2012 Pirelli Calendars, and continued to appear on covers for international editions of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

In 2016, Stone expanded into acting with a cameo in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie and a role in Laetitia Casta's short film En Moi. In her personal life, Stone underwent inpatient rehabilitation for alcoholism in 2009. She married English comedian David Walliams in May 2010, giving birth to their son, Alfred, in 2013; the couple divorced in 2015. In July 2021, she married property developer David Grievson, and the couple welcomed a son named Bob in July 2023.
