Kyle Gordon

Kyle Gordon is an American comedian, musician, actor, and social media creator based in New York. He gained widespread recognition on digital platforms, particularly TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, for his satirical characters, sketch comedy, and genre-defying parody songs. Gordon is best known for creating the viral 1990s Eurodance parody song "Planet of the Bass" under the persona of DJ Crazy Times, which became a major cultural phenomenon in 2023.

Early Life and Background

Gordon was born on October 9, 1992, and raised in Katonah, New York. He attended John Jay High School before enrolling at Denison University, graduating in 2014. While in college, he sang in an a cappella group, developing an early interest in musical performance. After completing his degree, Gordon moved to New York City to pursue comedy, training at the Magnet Theater and performing with the Brooklyn Comedy Collective's improv house teams.

Career and Viral Content

In late 2020, Gordon began posting comedy skits on TikTok and YouTube under the handle kylegordonisgreat. His content highlights a wide variety of satirical personas, including a 1950s greaser, an overzealous 2000s emo kid, a Bossa Nova crooner, and an indie folk musician. His breakthrough hit came in July 2023 when he released a snippet of "Planet of the Bass," a pitch-perfect parody of 1990s Eurodance music. The clip amassed tens of millions of views across platforms, leading to high-profile media coverage from outlets like The New York Times, GQ, and Rolling Stone, as well as a live performance alongside the Jonas Brothers.

Albums and Live Performances

Following his viral success, Gordon expanded his comedic music into full-length studio projects signed with BMG. He released his debut comedy album, "Kyle Gordon is Great," in March 2024, which debuted in the top ten of the Billboard Comedy Albums chart. He followed this with his sophomore release, "Kyle Gordon is Wonderful," in April 2025, featuring parodies of early 2010s indie-pop and nu-metal. Alongside his digital presence, Gordon tours nationally with a full live band, performing character sketches and musical comedy to sold-out audiences across North America.
