Justine Lupe

Justine Lupe-Schomp, born May 31, 1989, is an American actress who has worked extensively across television, film, and theater. She achieved widespread recognition for playing Willa Ferreyra on the HBO drama series Succession from 2018 to 2023. In addition to this breakout role, she has established a prominent television presence through major and recurring performances in productions such as the sitcom Cristela, the suspense series Mr. Mercedes, the period comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and the romantic comedy Nobody Wants This.

Born in New York City, Lupe spent her childhood in Colorado. She began formal artistic preparation in her youth, graduating from the theater program at the Denver School of the Arts in 2007. She continued her education in New York City at the Juilliard School, completing her degree in 2011. Notably, her grandmother, Kay Schomp, is the namesake of a theater located at the Denver School of the Arts.

Lupe entered screen acting through feature films, including David Chase's 2012 drama Not Fade Away and Noah Baumbach's 2013 comedy Frances Ha. During 2012, she made early television appearances on Southland, Harry's Law, and Royal Pains, followed by roles in Shameless in 2013 and Deadbeat in 2014. She also performed on stage alongside Jimmi Simpson in the off-Broadway play Empathitrax, written by Ana Nogueira, where her performance earned positive notice from reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli in The New York Times.

Her television career expanded when she was cast as Maddie on the ABC sitcom Cristela, stepping into the role starting with the second episode and continuing with the show from 2014 to 2015. Lupe subsequently accumulated numerous television credits, appearing on The Good Wife in 2015, BrainDead and Younger in 2016, Bull in 2017, and holding a multi-year role on Madam Secretary between 2016 and 2018.

From 2017 to 2019, Lupe held a main role as Holly Gibney in the Audience series Mr. Mercedes. Concurrently, she played Flute in the 2017 film adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Casey Wilder Mott. She also played the recurring character Astrid Weissman on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel from 2017 to 2023, while making additional television appearances on Snowfall, Sneaky Pete, and Alone Together.

After appearing in a recurring capacity during the first two seasons of Succession, Lupe was promoted to a regular cast member for its third season. In 2022, she starred as Nell Rutherford opposite Mila Kunis in the film Luckiest Girl Alive and contributed voice work to Robot Chicken. She later portrayed Morgan Williams in the series Nobody Wants This, running from 2024 to 2025. In her personal life, Lupe married visual artist Tyson Mason in February 2025.
