Emma Lovewell

Emma Lovewell (born October 25, 1987) is an American fitness instructor, author, former professional dancer, and wellness expert best known as a senior instructor for Peloton Interactive. Raised on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, she rose to national prominence through her virtual cycling, Pilates, and strength training classes, which blend curated music playlists with motivational coaching. Beyond her work with Peloton, Lovewell is the founder of the lifestyle platform Live Learn Lovewell and the author of the 2023 memoir Live Learn Love Well: Lessons from a Life of Progress Not Perfection.

Early Life and Background

Lovewell grew up in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. She is of Taiwanese and English descent; her father worked as a journalist and photographer, while her mother worked as an artist and gardener. She attended Martha's Vineyard Regional High School before earning a bachelor's degree in Chinese and mass communication from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2008. Following graduation, Lovewell relocated to New York City to pursue a career in dance and fitness. She performed as a professional dancer alongside high-profile music acts, including The Rolling Stones, Snoop Dogg, and Björk. During this period, she also signed as a fitness model with Wilhelmina Models, worked as a personal trainer, and taught group cycling classes at SoulCycle.

Peloton and Commercial Success

Lovewell first connected with Peloton Interactive in 2012 when she appeared in an acting role for the company's initial crowdfunding campaign. In 2017, she officially joined Peloton full-time as an instructor. Over her tenure, she has become one of the brand's primary cycling, strength, and core instruction personalities, guiding millions of virtual riders worldwide. Beyond coaching, she has served as a brand ambassador and sponsored athlete for major fitness and lifestyle brands, including Under Armour, Hydrant, Panasonic, and Sene, with whom she launched a custom apparel collaboration. In May 2023, Ballantine Books published her debut memoir, Live Learn Love Well, detailing her personal journey, biracial identity, and philosophy on sustainable wellness.

Personal Life

Based in New York, Lovewell manages her personal lifestyle brand and newsletter, outputting content centered on healthy recipes, home design, travel, and gardening. In 2023, she became engaged to Dave Clark. The couple subsequently married and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Skylar, in November 2024. Lovewell continues to teach at Peloton while maintaining an active digital presence centered on wellness, movement, and life balance.
