Barbara Schöneberger

Barbara von Schierstädt, born Schöneberger on March 5, 1974, is a German television presenter, entertainer, talk show host, actress, and singer. She is the only child of clarinet player Hans Schöneberger and his wife Annemarie. During her early education, she studied sociology, art history, and communication studies in Augsburg.

Schöneberger began hosting shows on German television in 1999. Over the course of her television career, she presented programs such as Die Schöneberger Show and Blondes Gift. She has also appeared as an actress in a number of television movies and served as a host for various award ceremonies, including the Echo Award in 2009.

Her broadcasting work prominently includes extensive involvement with the Eurovision Song Contest. She presented the German national finals for the contest starting in 2014, with the exception of 2018, including Unser Lied für Stockholm. She also served as Germany's spokesperson for the Eurovision Song Contest across multiple years, including the events in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022.

In addition to her television roles, Schöneberger expanded into music. She released her debut studio album, Jetzt singt sie auch noch!, in 2007, followed by her second album, Nochmal, nur anders, in 2009. She released her third album, Bekannt aus Funk und Fernsehen, in October 2013, focusing on her experiences balancing a career in television with home life. After announcing her first tour in Germany in 2014, she performed material from this album on stage. In May 2018, she released her fourth album, Eine Frau gibt Auskunft, which addresses women's perspectives and offers humorous commentary on men. In October 2018, a 24-hour radio program focused on her, named Barba Radio, launched.

Schöneberger has received professional recognition, including a Grimme Award nomination for her work on Blondes Gift. In her personal life, she lives in Berlin with her husband, Maximilian von Schierstädt, and has a son and a daughter. She engages in volunteer work for the German bone marrow donor database and has moderated the DKMS-Dreamball on multiple occasions, receiving the Douglas Hope Carrier Prize in 2009 for her commitment. Additionally, she serves alongside television presenter Oliver Welke as a long-time ambassador for the international children's aid organization Terre des hommes.
