Early Life and Tennis Career
Born on April 24, 1996, in Ipswich, Queensland, Barty began playing tennis at the age of four under coach Jim Joyce. She established herself as a top prospect by winning the Wimbledon girls' singles title in 2011 at age 15. After transitioning to the professional tour, she experienced early success in doubles alongside fellow Australian Casey Dellacqua, reaching three Grand Slam doubles finals in 2013. Facing burnout, Barty took an extended hiatus from professional tennis in late 2014 and briefly played competitive cricket for the Brisbane Heat in the Women's Big Bash League before returning to tennis in 2016.

Upon her return, Barty rapidly escalated up the rankings with a refined playing style and exceptional consistency. She captured her first major singles crown at the 2019 French Open, which propelled her to the world No. 1 ranking later that year. She maintained her position at the top of women's tennis through 2021, winning Wimbledon, and capped her singles career with a historic victory at the 2022 Australian Open without dropping a set. Shortly after her triumph in Melbourne, Barty announced her retirement from professional tennis in March 2022 at the age of 25.
