Andrea Berg

Andrea Berg, born Andrea Zellen on 28 January 1966 in Krefeld, Germany, is a German schlager singer. With over 10 million records sold throughout her career, she is recognized as one of the best-selling music artists in Germany. She is widely known for her extensive chart success, particularly her 2001 compilation album Best Of, which set records for spending the most weeks on the German and Austrian album charts. Since October 2000, Andrea Berg has been a registered trademark in Germany.

During her childhood, Berg experimented with performing short sketches at carnivals and celebrations. As she grew older, she played with a band, assisted backstage with stage setup, and drove the band's van. During this period, she earned a living working as a nurse in the oncology and intensive care departments of a hospital. Her musical career officially began in 1992 after record producer Eugen Römer received a cassette containing her recordings. Enthused by her voice, Römer produced her debut studio album, Du bist frei, that same year, which featured the singles Kilimandscharo and Schau mir noch mal ins Gesicht.

In 1995, Berg achieved her commercial breakthrough with her second studio album, Gefühle, also produced by Römer. The release included hit singles such as Wenn du mich willst, dann küß mich doch and featured one of her most popular tracks, Die Gefühle haben Schweigepflicht. Previously, in 1994, she reached first place on the ZDF-Hitparade with the song Steig wieder auf as part of the group Alle für Alle. Her collaboration with Römer spanned 17 years and produced a string of successful albums, including Träume lügen nicht (1997), Zwischen tausend Gefühlen (1998), and Weil ich verliebt bin (1999), as well as German chart-topping albums Machtlos (2003), Du (2004), Splitternackt (2006), and Zwischen Himmel & Erde (2009).

In 2010, Berg began working with producer Dieter Bohlen, launching a new era in her career with the release of Schwerelos. The album quickly went platinum and topped both the German and Austrian charts. Their partnership continued with the albums Abenteuer (2011), Atlantis (2013), and Seelenbeben (2016), all of which achieved number-one placements in Germany and Austria. She also expanded her international reach in 2013 with My Danish Collection, which topped the Danish charts. Although Bohlen announced the end of their professional partnership in 2018, the two later announced in 2019 that they would publish two new songs together.

Berg's achievements have been recognized with numerous accolades, including six ECHO Awards, eight Goldene Stimmgabeln, and two Amadeus Austrian Music Awards. In November 2008, German President Horst Köhler awarded her the Federal Cross of Merit for her hospice work. She was also awarded the seal of her hometown of Krefeld in 2009 for her social commitment. In addition to her musical work, Berg is known for her distinctive stage outfits, frequently wearing miniskirts, suspenders, and knee-highs during her live performances.

In her personal life, Berg gave birth to her daughter, Lena-Marie, in 1998. She was married to schlager singer Olaf Henning from 2002 to 2004. In 2007, she married sports agent, hotelier, and SG Sonnenhof Großaspach co-founder Ulrich Ferber, later residing with him and her daughter in Aspach.
