About Ultraviolet Sound

Sarah Theresa Hudson, born March 24, 1984, is an American pop singer-songwriter and the creator of the club-pop music project Ultraviolet Sound. Also known as UVS, the project served as a major fixture of her music career alongside her work as a solo artist and prominent songwriter for mainstream pop acts.

Hudson began her career under S-Curve Records, working on her debut album, Naked Truth, in 2004. Although the record label folded before the album was officially released, the project included collaborations with Desmond Child, Eric Bazilian, Billy Mann, Ozzy Osbourne, and Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler. In conjunction with the project, Hudson was featured in publications such as Interview, Women's Wear Daily, YM, Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and Elle.

In early 2007, Hudson launched Ultraviolet Sound. The group released its independent debut full-length record, O.C.D. (Obsessive Compulsive Dancing), in April 2009. The album secured sponsorship from Adidas Originals and garnered 135,000 downloads. In 2011, Ultraviolet Sound released a self-titled album worldwide. Its lead single, "Suck My Kiss," was issued digitally with three remixes, followed by "Girl Talk," which became the top release at Top 40 radio from an independent label in 2011, playing on over 50 Top 40 stations.

Ultraviolet Sound built an extensive touring record, embarking on a 35-city United States tour with Family Force 5 and performing alongside acts such as DJ Kill The Noise, Treasure Fingers, Ludachrist, SebastiAn, and Kavinsky. They played one-off shows with Lady Gaga, performed at SXSW on a bill featuring Robyn, N.E.R.D, and Katy Perry, and completed a 20-date tour in the United Kingdom in March 2010. The group also received coverage from celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and gained national radio rotation for their cover of "Two of Hearts."

In 2012, Ultraviolet Sound collaborated with DJ Kill The Noise on the track "Dying." Hudson subsequently contributed vocals and co-writing to EDM tracks, including Brillz's "Fuzzy Peach" and the Kill The Noise and Brillz collaboration "Saturn." Released on Skrillex's label OWSLA, "Saturn" was featured in Rolling Stone and received continued play by high-profile DJs worldwide.

As a songwriter signed to Prescription Songs/AAM, Hudson achieved significant commercial success. She co-wrote Katy Perry's single "Dark Horse" alongside Perry, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Cirkut. The track topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for four consecutive weeks and sold 7.9 million copies. She also co-wrote Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora's "Black Widow," which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and received a double-platinum certification from the RIAA.

Hudson's additional songwriting credits include Nicki Minaj's "Get On Your Knees" featuring Ariana Grande, Katy Perry's "Swish Swish" featuring Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber's "The Feeling" featuring Halsey, Santigold's "Banshee," and 5 Seconds of Summer's "San Francisco." On April 7, 2017, Hudson released a solo EP titled Songs from the Sea.

Beyond music releases, Hudson has appeared on television. She was featured in Frontline's report "The Way The Music Died" and appeared in a Season 1 episode of Project Runway, where contestants designed rocker fashion for her image.
