About Tyler1
Tyler Steinkamp, known online as Tyler1, is an American digital creator and professional League of Legends player. He gained widespread recognition as one of the most prominent content creators in online streaming. Early in his career, he achieved high rankings in competitive play while developing a reputation for disruptive and toxic behavior, which eventually led to an indefinite ban from League of Legends by Riot Games in April 2016.
During his time away from the game, Steinkamp left his computer science studies and university football career at Central Methodist University to focus full-time on broadcasting. Unable to stream League of Legends without account suspensions, he expanded his channel into variety gaming and non-gaming broadcasts. He also established the Tyler1 Championship Series, an independently funded online tournament parodying official esports competitions that attracted massive live audiences.
In January 2018, Riot Games reinstated Steinkamp after evaluating his behavior. His return broadcast drew over 382,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, setting a site record for an individual streamer at the time. Following his reinstatement, he officially collaborated with Riot Games on analyst desks and showmatches, and he signed as a content creator for the South Korean esports organization T1 from 2020 to 2022.
Steinkamp later undertook competitive challenges in League of Legends, reaching the top Challenger tier in all five distinct playing roles by early 2022, an achievement recognized by Riot Games with custom commemorative medals. In 2023, he expanded his content into competitive online chess, participating in the PogChamps tournament and reaching the upper percentiles of players on Chess.com.
Throughout his streaming career, Steinkamp has received industry recognition, including winning Best League of Legends Streamer at The Streamer Awards in 2021 and 2022, as well as Best Chess Streamer at the 2023 ceremony. Outside of his broadcasts, he has shared personal milestones on social media, including the birth of his two daughters with his partner Macaiyla in 2024 and 2025.
