Tori Dunlap

Tori Dunlap is an American businesswoman, author, podcaster, and speaker. She is best known as the founder of Her First $100K, a financial education company designed to assist young women with personal finance.

Dunlap grew up in Tacoma, Washington. Her interest in business began at age nine when her father helped her start a candy vending machine business with a $300 loan. After repaying the loan, she expanded her operation to 15 machines and used the profits for her college fund. At age 20, she sold the vending business for $1,700. Dunlap later attended the University of Portland, graduating debt-free in 2016 with dual degrees: a Bachelor of Science in organizational communication and a Bachelor of Arts in theatre.

Following her college graduation, Dunlap moved to Seattle and took an entry-level position as a digital marketing manager. At age 22, she launched a financial education blog and set a personal goal to save $100,000 by the time she turned 25, a financial milestone she achieved in 2019. Dunlap credited graduating from college without debt as a key factor in reaching this savings goal.

Dunlap subsequently established Her First $100K. The financial education company monetizes through social media, corporate sponsors, speaking engagements, financial coaching, and the sale of programs and webinars. By 2021, the company employed twelve people, generated over $3.4 million in gross revenue, and earned $15,000 per video from corporate sponsors. In May 2021, Dunlap expanded her business offerings by launching a podcast titled Financial Feminist. She also authored a book of the same name, published by HarperCollins, which became a New York Times bestseller.

Dunlap's financial guidance has been compared by The New York Times to that of other millennial financial influencers such as Berna Anat, Melissa Jean-Baptiste, Delyanne, and Haley Sacks, following in the tradition of advisors like Suze Orman. Observers noted that these younger creators tend to depart from traditional advice tropes, such as criticizing consumers for small daily expenses like buying lattes.

Dunlap resides in Seattle with her boyfriend Pav, who works as an athletics and education professional.
