Stewie2K

Jacky "Jake" Yip, professionally known as Stewie2K, is an American online streamer and professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Counter-Strike 2 player. He gained widespread recognition as an in-game leader and key roster member who helped earn North America's first Valve-sponsored major championship in Counter-Strike history. Over his competitive career, Yip represented several prominent esports organizations and established himself as one of the highest-earning players in the region's first-person shooter scene.

Yip was born on January 7, 1998, and was raised in San Francisco, California, alongside an older brother and a sister. His parents frequently traveled to China for business and held traditional career expectations for Yip, desiring that he pursue a standard path such as becoming a lawyer or a doctor. Their strong disapproval of video games created severe domestic tension. Believing her son would fail, Yip's mother expressed disdain that drove a strain between them, prompting seventeen-year-old Yip to leave home and fly to Los Angeles to pursue his gaming ambitions independently.

Yip's introduction to competitive gaming began when his older brother, Jason, introduced him to Counter-Strike 1.6. After taking a break to play titles such as RuneScape, MapleStory, League of Legends, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Yip returned to Counter-Strike 1.6 to play custom mods and surf maps. In the summer of 2014, a friend gifted him Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Inspired by videos of Cloud9, Yip logged extensive hours daily, spending five months in general matchmaking before advancing to ESEA. False accusations of cheating from other players during this period further motivated him to pursue a professional path.

In early 2016, Yip joined Cloud9 as an in-game leader following a recommendation from departing member Sean Gares, signing his contract on January 11 just hours after his eighteenth birthday. Despite initial skepticism from veteran players, Yip competed with Cloud9 for two years, securing titles at ESL Pro League Season 4, DreamHack Open Denver 2017, and iBUYPOWER Masters 2017. His tenure with the team culminated in winning the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 after defeating FaZe Clan in a grand final that went to double overtime on the third map, marking the first major victory for an all-North American roster.

After leaving Cloud9 in late March 2018, Yip spent a brief trial period with SK Gaming, whose roster was subsequently acquired by Made in Brazil (MIBR). In December 2018, MIBR traded Yip to Team Liquid in exchange for two personnel members. During a highly successful 2019 campaign in which Team Liquid won seven tournaments, Yip placed runner-up at the ECS Season 8 Finals in December, becoming the first North American Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player to exceed $1,000,000 in tournament prize money.

Following his removal from Team Liquid's active lineup in late 2021, Yip signed with Evil Geniuses in January 2022. By July 2022, he transitioned away from active Counter-Strike competition to stream Counter-Strike and Valorant for the Evil Geniuses Creator Collective. Yip returned to live LAN competition in May 2024 as a stand-in for G2 Esports at IEM Dallas, where his team defeated MOUZ, Team Liquid, FaZe Clan, and Vitality to win the championship.
