Ronan Farrow

Satchel Ronan O'Sullivan Farrow, born December 19, 1987, is an American journalist and lawyer. He was born in Manhattan, New York, to actress Mia Farrow and filmmaker Woody Allen. As a child, Farrow advanced rapidly through his education, studying at Bard College at Simon's Rock before transferring to Bard College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy at age 15. He later received a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 2009, passed the New York State Bar examination, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy in political science from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.

Farrow began his career in public service, serving as a UNICEF Spokesperson for Youth from 2001 to 2009, advocating for children and women affected by the crisis in Sudan's Darfur region. During his legal studies, he interned at the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell and the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs. In 2009, he joined the Obama administration as Special Adviser for Humanitarian and NGO Affairs in the Office of the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan. In 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appointed him as Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues and Director of the State Department's Office of Global Youth Issues, a role he concluded in 2012.

Farrow subsequently transitioned into media and journalism, writing essays and op-eds for several major periodicals. From February 2014 to February 2015, he hosted the television news program Ronan Farrow Daily on MSNBC. Beginning in June 2015, he hosted the investigative series Undercover with Ronan Farrow as a segment on NBC's Today show. In May 2016, Farrow published a guest column in The Hollywood Reporter addressing media culture and the coverage of sexual abuse allegations against high-profile figures.

In October 2017, Farrow published a major investigative reporting piece in The New Yorker detailing allegations of sexual misconduct against film producer Harvey Weinstein. For this coverage, The New Yorker shared the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service with The New York Times. Farrow continued his investigative work for the publication with high-profile articles on public figures and organizations, covering topics such as New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, media executive Leslie Moonves, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the MIT Media Lab's connections to Jeffrey Epstein, the Britney Spears conservatorship dispute, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

In addition to his investigative reporting, Farrow has engaged in film, television, and media projects. He provided voice work for English-language versions of the animated films From Up on Poppy Hill and The Wind Rises, and appeared as himself on the series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. He has appeared as a guest co-host on The View, served as a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 7 and RuPaul's Drag Race season 16, and provided motion-capture for the 2024 video game Riven. Farrow also signed a development deal with HBO in 2018, serving as an executive producer for the documentary Endangered.
