Raline Shah

Raline Rahmat Shah is an Indonesian actress, model, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and public figure born on March 4, 1985. She initially gained widespread recognition in mainstream entertainment as a contestant in the Puteri Indonesia 2008 pageant, representing North Sumatra and winning the Miss Favorite of Indonesia title through a public vote. Since then, she has established a prominent career across Indonesian and Malaysian cinema, stage productions, and commercial modeling.

Shah was born in Jakarta and raised between Jakarta and Medan before moving to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, in 1998. Her father is an entrepreneur and former senator, while her mother is a philanthropist involved in leading a school for children with disabilities. Shah holds Malay, Chinese, and Pakistani ancestry. She completed her secondary education at Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar, receiving several awards including the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award. She later earned a degree in Political Science & New Media and Communications from the National University of Singapore in 2007.

During her university years and early career, Shah modeled part-time and worked in corporate public relations. Her official film debut came in 2012 when she starred as Riani in the hit drama 5 cm, which follows a group of friends climbing Mount Semeru. The feature became one of the highest-grossing Indonesian releases of that year. Following her debut, she performed in the 2013 stage production Timun Mas: The Musical and completed an internship with the Yogyakarta performance collective Teater Garasi in 2016.

Shah earned critical acclaim for her role in the 2015 film Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, winning Best Supporting Actress awards at the Bandung Film Festival and the Indonesian Box Office Movie Awards. She also recorded the song Kekasih di Surga for the film's soundtrack. Her additional screen credits include roles in 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa, Surga yang Tak Dirindukan 2, and the 2018 Malaysian action hit Polis Evo 2, where she played an Indonesian police officer.

Alongside her acting, Shah has maintained an extensive modeling career internationally and within Indonesia. Personally chosen by designer Diane von Furstenberg as a Southeast Asian brand ambassador, she also represented traditional Indonesian weaving initiatives at United Nations fashion events in New York. Over the years, she has served as the brand face for major companies including Pantene, Wardah Cosmetics, Bank Mandiri, XL Axiata, and Oppo.

Shah is actively involved in charitable causes and business endeavors. In 2017, she co-founded Rumah Harapan Indonesia, an organization providing temporary accommodation for children undergoing treatment for serious health conditions. She also helped establish Yayasan Tunas Bakti Nusantara to support healthcare and education in remote regions. In business, she was appointed an independent director for Indonesia AirAsia in 2017 and co-founded the Jakarta coffee shop KISAKU in 2019.

An outdoor enthusiast, Shah enjoys mountain climbing and has successfully reached the summits of Mount Rinjani and Mount Kilimanjaro. She frequently advocates for environmental awareness and personal wellness through practices like yoga and meditation, while maintaining a large social media following.
