Nia Sioux

Nia Sioux Frazier is an American actress, dancer, singer, and media personality. She initially gained widespread recognition as a featured cast member on the Lifetime reality television series Dance Moms, participating in the show from 2011 through 2017. Following her time on reality television, she transitioned into scripted acting roles across daytime drama and feature films, released musical recordings, performed in stage productions, and authored a book.

Born on June 20, 2001, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sioux was raised by her parents, Holly and Evan Frazier, alongside two brothers. She began dance training as a young child at the Abby Lee Dance Company. During her early years of instruction, she was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome but managed to continue dancing. Alongside her ongoing professional endeavors, Sioux pursued higher education at the University of California, Los Angeles, earning a degree in American Literature and Culture in 2024.

At age nine, Sioux and her mother joined the initial cast of Dance Moms. Her parents were initially reluctant to participate due to their full-time careers, responsibilities caring for three children, a preference to avoid interpersonal drama, and doubts regarding the program's long-term prospects. Within the show, instructor Abby Lee Miller presented weekly performer rankings referred to as the pyramid. Sioux became noted for frequently being placed at the bottom of these rankings and receiving fewer solo opportunities than other dancers. Over seven seasons from 2011 to 2017, Sioux and her mother became the series' longest-serving cast members. During her tenure on the show, Sioux also pursued music, releasing individual tracks including "Star in Your Own Life" and "Slay," which featured artist Coco Jones.

After leaving Dance Moms in 2017, Sioux expanded into television and film acting. In 2018, she served as a correspondent for NBC at the Winter Olympics in South Korea and made her feature film debut in Runnin' From My Roots. From 2018 to 2019, she played the regular role of Emma Barber on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. She subsequently starred in the Brat TV series Sunnyside Up from 2019 to 2020. In 2021, she appeared in the drama films Imperfect High and The Code. Sioux's screen work continued in 2024 with roles in the film adaptation of the musical Mean Girls, the feature films The Lies I Tell Myself and The Lady of the Lake: The Legend of Lake Ronkonkoma, and the miniseries Saving Nora. She later performed as a dancer in Shuffle of Love: A Descendants Short Story in 2025.

In addition to screen appearances, Sioux has engaged in theatrical work and writing. She appeared as a dancer in the off-Broadway show Trip of Love in 2016, later returning to off-Broadway in 11 to Midnight in 2026. Also in 2026, she performed in a featured ensemble role in a production of Mean Girls at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. During her junior year at UCLA, Sioux wrote a memoir titled Bottom of the Pyramid, published in 2024, which detailed her experiences on Dance Moms and included allegations of racist encounters with Miller.
