About Nadeshot
Matthew Haag, widely known online as Nadeshot, is an American content creator, businessman, and retired professional Call of Duty player. He gained widespread recognition as an esports competitor, serving as the objective support player and captain for OpTic Gaming across multiple tournament seasons. Haag is also the founder, co-owner, and former chief executive officer of the gaming organization and lifestyle brand 100 Thieves.
Haag was born on August 3, 1992, to parents Jeff and Christina Haag, and grew up alongside his brother Kevin and sister Sarah. He graduated from Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois, in 2010 and subsequently completed a two-year business studies course at Moraine Valley Community College. Prior to his career in professional esports, Haag was employed at a local McDonald's restaurant.
His original gaming handle, NaDeSHoT, was derived from the "grenade shot" elimination technique in the Halo video game series. After competing as an amateur in Halo 2, Haag shifted his focus to Gears of War after receiving the game as a holiday gift, narrowly missing qualification for a Major League Gaming event in 2007. In 2008, at sixteen years of age, he made his professional esports debut competing in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Haag officially joined OpTic Gaming in June 2010. Over the next few years, he represented several teams, temporarily established the OpTic Nation squad, and produced video content. His major competitive breakthrough occurred in 2011 when he rejoined OpTic for the inaugural Call of Duty XP tournament, claiming first place and taking home a share of the grand prize. He permanently rejoined OpTic's core roster for the Call of Duty: Black Ops II season, securing a championship title at UMG Chicago and a third-place finish at the Call of Duty Championship.
Following the retirement of his predecessor in 2014, Haag assumed the role of team captain for OpTic Gaming. During the Call of Duty: Ghosts season, he led his squad to a third-place finish at the 2014 Call of Duty World Championship and earned a gold medal at the MLG X Games in Austin, Texas. His achievements led to him being named Best eSports Player at The Game Awards 2014. During the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare season, Haag led OpTic to victories at UMG Orlando and the MLG Pro League Season 1 Playoffs.
In April 2015, Haag stepped down from active competition to focus on content creation and co-ownership within OpTic, before fully leaving the organization in 2016. That same year, he founded 100 Thieves in Los Angeles, California. Under his leadership, the organization expanded into a lifestyle brand featuring competitive teams in titles such as Call of Duty, Valorant, Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Rainbow Six Siege, and Marvel Rivals. Haag remains active as a digital creator, streaming on Twitch and building a YouTube audience of over 3.2 million subscribers.
