Miranda Lambert

Miranda Leigh Lambert McLoughlin is an American country music singer-songwriter. Born in Longview, Texas, she began her career in 2001 with an independent self-titled debut album. In 2003, she gained national attention by finishing third on the USA Network competition Nashville Star. Outside her solo career, she formed the trio Pistol Annies in 2011 with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. Lambert has received accolades from the Grammy Awards, Country Music Association Awards, and Academy of Country Music Awards, holding the record for the most ACM Awards earned by any artist.

Lambert was born on November 10, 1983, to Rick and Bev Lambert in Longview, Texas, and raised in Lindale, Texas. Named after her great-grandmother, she grew up with a younger brother. Her father, a former police officer who played in a 1970s country-rock group, taught her guitar after she resisted pop music offered at an early Nashville session. Her parents also worked as private investigators and operated a shelter for domestic violence victims. While in high school, Lambert sang with The Texas Pride Band and fronted the house band at Longview's Reo Palm Isle venue.

In 2003, Lambert signed with Epic Records and released her major-label debut, Kerosene, in 2005. The Platinum-certified album topped the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and yielded four top 40 country singles. Her 2007 follow-up, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, produced her first top 10 country hit, "Gunpowder & Lead," and won Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards. In 2009, Lambert released Revolution, which featured her first country chart-toppers, "The House That Built Me" and "Heart Like Mine." "The House That Built Me" earned her a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

Lambert released her fourth album, Four the Record, in 2011 under RCA Nashville, featuring the chart-topping single "Over You." That same year, her group Pistol Annies debuted with the album Hell on Heels, followed by Annie Up in 2013. Lambert also made a guest acting appearance on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2012. Her fifth solo album, Platinum (2014), contained the hits "Automatic" and "Somethin' Bad" and won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album.

In 2016, Lambert released the Platinum-certified album The Weight of These Wings and headlined Europe's C2C: Country to Country festival. Her 2019 album, Wildcard, earned a Grammy Award for Best Country Album and produced the Country Airplay number-one single "Bluebird." She subsequently collaborated with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram on the acoustic project The Marfa Tapes in 2021, before releasing her eighth solo album, Palomino, in 2022. That same year, she was named to Time's 100 Most Influential People, and in 2024 she received the Country Icon Award at the People's Choice Country Awards.
