Lindsey Wixson

Lindsey Brooke Wixson, born April 11, 1994, is an American model. She is recognized for her unique physical features, including her "bee-stung lips", "rosebud pout", and gapped front teeth. Over the course of her career, she has starred in major advertising campaigns for prominent fashion brands and designers, including Chanel, John Galliano, Versace Vanitas, Miu Miu, Jill Stuart, and Alexander McQueen.

Wixson was raised in Wichita, Kansas, by her parents Thomas, a satellite dish installer, and Michele, a school bus driver. She grew up alongside her sister, Kirsten, and inherited her gapped teeth from her father. In middle school, she experienced bullying regarding her teeth. Inspired by a Reader's Digest article about successful figures like Bill Gates and encouraged by strangers who suggested she could model, Wixson began researching the industry at age 12. She studied past issues of Vogue and examined the careers of supermodels such as Gisele, Christy, and Kate. She initially signed with the Kansas agency Models and Images, which connected her with Vision LA, leading her parents to take out a loan to drive her to Los Angeles.

She officially began her modeling career in 2009 after signing with Vision Models in Los Angeles. After being rejected by several New York agencies, she was signed by Marilyn Agency and hand-selected by Steven Meisel for her first job with Vogue Italia. Wixson made her runway debut at New York Fashion Week for Cynthia Steffe before opening for Prada in Milan and closing for Miu Miu in Paris. During her debut season, W magazine editor Stefano Tonchi featured her features in his inaugural issue, and she fronted Miu Miu's Spring 2010 campaign. Photographer Gabrielle Revere documented her early runway experience for LIFE magazine, resulting in photographs later exhibited at Sotheby's. By the end of 2010, she had walked in 44 shows and earned her first major magazine cover for i-D.

Between 2011 and 2017, Wixson became one of the fashion industry's most prominent figures. She featured in campaigns for brands including Mulberry, Alexander McQueen, Jill Stuart, Chanel, Versace, Urban Outfitters, H&M, Fendi, River Island, and Dior. On the runway, she walked for houses such as Rodarte, Zac Posen, Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab, Atelier Versace, Balmain, Max Mara, and Tom Ford. She also appeared on the covers of international editions of Vogue, Elle Japan, and Harper's Bazaar, and joined The Society Management in New York and Elite Model Management in Paris in 2013.

In July 2017, Wixson announced her retirement from modeling following a foot injury that prevented her from wearing high heels. During her hiatus, she focused on pottery, sculpting, carving, interior design, and inventing. After recovering, she returned to the industry, walking for designers such as Fendi, Miu Miu, and Marc Jacobs, and starring in campaigns for Vivienne Westwood and Fenty. In 2023, she walked shows for Dsquared2 and MSGM while pregnant, and in September 2024, she walked for Maison Yoshiki Paris at Paris Fashion Week.

In her personal life, Wixson enjoys art and writing and has expressed a desire to become a pilot after modeling. In 2011, her prom dress was custom-designed by Jason Wu. On February 14, 2024, Wixson married musician Brion Starr at New York City Hall. The couple resides in New York City with their child.
