Latto

Alyssa Michelle Stephens, known professionally as Latto (formerly Miss Mulatto and Mulatto), is an American rapper and singer. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on December 22, 1998, she was raised in Georgia and attended Lovejoy High School in Hampton. She began writing rap songs at age ten, having previously participated in drag racing. Latto first gained public attention in 2016 as a contestant and winner on the first season of the reality competition series The Rap Game. After winning, she declined a recording contract from So So Def Recordings to operate as an independent artist, releasing the mixtape Latto Let 'Em Know in 2017.

Latto achieved her commercial breakthrough with the 2019 single "Bitch from da Souf." After signing with RCA Records, she released her debut studio album, Queen of da Souf, in August 2020. Preceded by singles such as the remix to "Bitch from da Souf" and "Muwop" featuring Gucci Mane, the album peaked at number 44 on the Billboard 200. That same year, she was named to the XXL Freshman Class and made a cameo appearance in the music video for Cardi B's single "WAP."

In 2021, Stephens officially changed her stage name to Latto. She achieved wider mainstream success with the release of her single "Big Energy," which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and received triple platinum certification by the RIAA. The track served as the lead single for her second studio album, 777 (2022), which reached number 15 on the Billboard 200. In 2023, Latto reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200 as a featured artist on Jung Kook's single "Seven." Her single "Put It on da Floor Again" featuring Cardi B reached number 13 on the Hot 100 and served as the lead single for her third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea (2024).

Latto's accolades include two BET Awards, a BET Hip Hop Award, a Billboard Music Award, an MTV Video Music Award, and two Grammy Award nominations, including Best New Artist at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. She was named Variety's Breakthrough Artist of 2022 and included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for music in 2024.

Beyond her recording career, Latto opened the store Pittstop Clothing in Jonesboro, Georgia, in 2017. In 2021, she established the Win Some Give Some Foundation to support at-risk young women. She has continued to release music, including her 2024 single "Sunday Service" and her 2025 single "Somebody."
