Hilary Rhoda

Hilary Rhoda Hollis is an American model born on April 6, 1987. She is best known for her long-standing work as a face of the cosmetics brand Estée Lauder and for her appearances in the 2009, 2010, and 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues.

Rhoda was raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Rye, New York, and has Irish ancestry. While attending high school at the Academy of the Holy Cross in Maryland, she participated actively in sports, playing on the field hockey and basketball varsity teams for three years. She won a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship, earned honors, and was named best offensive player. Although she was recruited by several colleges to play field hockey, she deferred her acceptances after beginning her modeling career during her sophomore year.

Discovered at a ProScout event in Washington, D.C., Rhoda initial modeling work included advertisements for Hollister and Abercrombie. She was initially represented by Click Model Management before transitioning to IMG Models, which manages her globally and in New York. In January 2007, she signed an exclusive contract to become the newest face of Estée Lauder.

Throughout her career, Rhoda has appeared in advertising campaigns for prominent fashion houses and brands, including Balenciaga, Valentino, Belstaff, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Donna Karan, Gucci, Gap, DSquared², Shiatzy Chen, Blumarine, Ralph Lauren, Via Spiga, St. John Knits, ERES Beachwear, Neiman Marcus, and Max Mara. She has also been featured in Victoria's Secret catalogs and walked in the 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Additionally, on November 18, 2010, she modeled the Hope Diamond in the Embrace Hope necklace for its 50th anniversary display at the Smithsonian.

Rhoda's print work includes covers for publications such as Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris, British Harper's Bazaar, Time, Numéro, and W. In May 2007, she appeared on the cover of American Vogue alongside nine other models as part of a feature on the "World's Next Top Models."

Her commercial success earned her recognition on several financial lists. In July 2007, Forbes ranked her 12th on its list of The World's 15 Top-Earning Supermodels, estimating her earnings at $2 million over the preceding 12 months. Forbes later ranked her sixth on its 2013 list of the world's highest-paid models.

In her personal life, Rhoda previously dated former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. She became engaged to former National Hockey League player Sean Avery in November 2013, and the couple married at the Parrish Art Museum in New York on October 10, 2015. She announced she was expecting her first child in 2020. After separating and filing for divorce in 2022, the couple reconciled in August 2025.
