Derrick Levasseur

Derrick Levasseur is an American television personality, private investigator, and former police detective. Born on February 3, 1984, he originally pursued a career in law enforcement before gaining widespread public recognition as a reality television contestant and media host.

Levasseur served as a police officer in Central Falls, Rhode Island, for 13 years after being hired at age 20. Working across patrol and detective units, he served as an undercover operative in a Special Investigations Unit alongside federal agencies such as the ATF, DEA, FBI, and US Secret Service. During his police career, he received several honors, including unit citations, letters of recognition, the Medal of Valor, and a 2017 American Red Cross Hero Award for rescuing seven individuals from a burning structure. He retired from the force in 2017 to launch Break Investigative Group, a private investigation company.

In 2014, Levasseur achieved major public fame by winning the sixteenth season of the reality series Big Brother USA. Keeping his detective background secret from fellow contestants, he formed a key duo called "The Hitmen" with Cody Calafiore and participated in the "Team America" alliance. Levasseur secured multiple Head of Household victories and avoided being nominated for eviction until the final three stage. He ultimately won the grand prize via a 7-2 jury vote, securing total earnings of $575,000 from the show.

Following his victory, Levasseur expanded into true crime and television broadcasting. He hosted two seasons of the Investigation Discovery show Breaking Homicide and contributed to the network's series Hard Evidence: Is OJ Innocent. He also launched several audio and video podcasts, including the true crime show Crime Weekly alongside Stephanie Harlowe, Detective Perspective, and the Big Brother commentary show The Winner's Circle with Calafiore.

Levasseur later returned to reality programming and hosting roles. He joined Taylor Hale to co-host the companion series Big Brother: Unlocked starting in 2025, later continuing the show alongside Jerry O'Connell. In 2025, Levasseur also appeared as a contestant on the third season of The Traitors, where his run ended in the seventh episode.
