Danielle Bernstein

Danielle Bernstein is an American fashion influencer, designer, and entrepreneur best known as the creator of the popular personal style platform WeWoreWhat. Originating as a street-style photography blog during her college years, WeWoreWhat expanded into a prominent digital brand and multi-category fashion enterprise. Over her career, Bernstein has established a strong presence across social media and built a direct-to-consumer apparel brand spanning activewear, swimwear, ready-to-wear clothing, and accessories.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Born on May 28, 1992, in Great Neck, New York, Bernstein attended Great Neck South High School before enrolling at the University of Wisconsin–Madison to study retail. She later transferred to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City to focus on advertising and marketing communications. In 2010, while still a student, she launched WeWoreWhat to document street fashion around New York campuses. Recognizing the platform's potential, she dropped out of college to dedicate herself fully to building her online presence, transitioning the blog into a personal style outlet as Instagram grew in popularity.

Business and Entrepreneurship

Bernstein leveraged her growing social media audience to launch several commercial ventures. In 2016, she debuted Second Skin Overalls, a direct-to-consumer line focusing on modern denim workwear. Her commercial success earned her a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2017. She subsequently partnered with Onia to produce successful swimwear lines before incorporating swim, activewear, and everyday apparel directly under her primary brand, WeWoreWhat. In addition to fashion, Bernstein launched Moe Assist in 2019, a project management software designed for digital content creators, and authored the 2020 memoir This Is Not a Fashion Story. In 2024, she expanded into beauty by partnering with Parlux to launch her signature fragrance line.

Personal Life

Based in New York City, Bernstein shares updates about her daily life, fashion projects, and travel with her online community. In June 2025, she announced her engagement to real estate agent Cooper Weisman, though the couple mutually called off their engagement and ended their relationship in early 2026. Outside of design, she engages in philanthropic efforts through her platform We Gave What, which supports charitable causes and small business initiatives.
