About Tunde Oyeneyin
Tunde Oyeneyin is an American fitness instructor and former makeup artist of Nigerian heritage. She is widely recognized for her work as a cycling instructor with the interactive fitness platform Peloton, as well as her advocacy and digital media projects.
Raised in Katy, Texas, Oyeneyin attended Taylor High School, graduating in 2004. During her youth, she faced personal challenges related to her body weight and was frequently the largest girl in her school classes. Before entering the fitness industry, she spent over ten years working as a makeup artist based in Los Angeles, California. During this period, she also appeared as a television contestant on the game show Deal or No Deal in 2009.
Oyeneyin's transition to Peloton began when fellow instructor Cody Rigsby reached out to her via Instagram to encourage her to audition. Although she did not succeed on her initial tryout, Rigsby urged her to reapply, leading to her eventual hire by the company. Her professional representation expanded in September 2020 when she signed with the Wasserman Media Group.
As an instructor, Oyeneyin gained significant attention for her themed cycling sessions and active voice on social issues. In June 2020, following the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and others, she co-hosted a 30-minute Peloton class titled "Speak Up" alongside instructor Chelsea Jackson Roberts. Designed in solidarity with Black Lives Matter movements, the session highlighted music by Black musicians and included statements from Black Peloton team members, accumulating 110,000 views by late July 2020. She has also gained recognition for matching her attire to Peloton's artist-focused series, such as wearing an outfit inspired by Beyoncé's 2013 Grammy Awards look. Additionally, in December 2020, she joined a lineup of instructors hosting classes themed around Shonda Rhimes' book Year of Yes.
Beyond her cycling classes, Oyeneyin established the SPEAK Movement and created S.P.E.A.K., an acronym for Surrender, Power, Empathy, Authenticity, and Knowledge. Hosted on Instagram Live, this broadcast series provides a platform for individuals sharing stories of overcoming adversity. She has also discussed her dual career paths in beauty and fitness on public media platforms, including an appearance on the Forever35 podcast in November 2020.
