Taylor Hanson

Jordan Taylor Hanson, born March 14, 1983, is an American musician best known as a member of the pop rock band Hanson. In the group, he performs both lead and back-up vocals, and plays a variety of instruments including keyboard, piano, guitar, harmonica, and percussion instruments such as drums, bongos, and the tambourine. Beyond his primary band, he has also served as the lead singer for the supergroup Tinted Windows.

Hanson was born in Jenks, Oklahoma, a suburb of Tulsa, as the second of seven children to Diana Frances Hanson and Clarke Walker Hanson. He is of partial Danish ancestry.

In 1992, Hanson began his musical career alongside his brothers Isaac and Zac. Initially performing under the name The Hanson Brothers, the trio started as an a cappella group singing outside clubs in Tulsa. The band later shortened its name to Hanson. On May 6, 1997, the group released their first major studio album, Middle of Nowhere, under Mercury Records. The album's lead single, "MMMBop," reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Following the success of their major-label debut, May 6 was declared Hanson Day in Tulsa. The band hosts annual concerts and celebrations in Tulsa on this date, drawing international fans. Expanding their industry involvement, Taylor Hanson and his brothers co-founded their own label, 3CG Records, in 2003.

In early 2009, Hanson formed the band Tinted Windows alongside James Iha, Bun E. Carlos, and Adam Schlesinger. The supergroup made their public debut at SXSW on March 20, 2009, and released their debut album on April 21, 2009. Following Schlesinger's death from COVID-19 in 2020, Hanson disclosed that a Tinted Windows reunion had previously been under development.

Outside of his primary band projects, Hanson founded Food on the Move in 2014, a Tulsa-based volunteer organization aimed at addressing local food insecurity by providing fresh produce, meals, and health resources. In 2021, he participated in The Sound of Black Wall Street musical project to mark the centennial of the Tulsa race massacre, recording the solo song "Sound Like Joy" at the historic Vernon AME Church.

In his personal life, Hanson married Natalie Anne Bryant on June 8, 2002, after meeting her in 2000. The couple has seven children, consisting of four sons born in 2002, 2006, 2008, and 2018, and three daughters born in 2005, 2012, and 2020.
