His performance, particularly as the main character of the show's third season, brought him prominence both nationally and internationally.

Sandvik Moe attended the Hartvig Nissen school in Norway. He appeared across all four seasons of Skam from 2015 to 2017. The third season focused on his character and received critical acclaim for presenting homosexual love without relying on stereotypical storylines or personalities. The show became a global phenomenon, attracting international viewers who followed the series through unofficial translations on social media.

For his performance in Skam, Sandvik Moe was nominated for Best Actor at the 2017 Gullruten awards, an annual ceremony for Norway's television industry. Although he did not win Best Actor, he won two major honors at the ceremony: the Audience Award, shared with co-star Henrik Holm, and TV Moment of the Year for the final scene in the penultimate episode of the third season. During the live broadcast, he and Holm drew media attention in Norway for a spontaneous kiss during an unscripted kiss cam segment.

In July 2017, Sandvik Moe attended Oslo Pride alongside co-star Carl Martin Eggesbø and producer Marianne Furevold-Boland to accept the Fryd award, which recognizes individuals or organizations that positively challenge norms surrounding gender and sexuality. In February 2018, Sandvik Moe and co-star Iman Meskini were invited to the Royal Palace for dinner, where they met Prince William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who visited the school where Skam was filmed to discuss the show's global influence.

Sandvik Moe has also worked in theater and feature films. In June 2017, he was announced in the role of Doody for a Norwegian stage adaptation of Grease, which opened in January 2018. The following month, he secured a role in the 2018 erotic thriller film An Affair (En affære), which revolves around a teacher having an affair with a student. Additionally, in August 2017, he presented the Best Actress award at Norway's Amandaprisen film awards and hosted the announcement of nominees for the 2017 Nordic Council Film Prize.

In September 2018, Sandvik Moe appeared as a guest on the Norwegian talk show Senkveld, where he addressed his decision to keep his sexual orientation private. He explained that his sexuality is a personal matter and stated his preference to focus on his career as an actor rather than media headlines regarding his personal life.
