Shirin David

Barbara Shirin Davidavicius, born on April 11, 1995, and known professionally as Shirin David, is a German rapper, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and head of the music label Juicy Money. She initially achieved recognition by publishing online videos on YouTube before establishing herself in the music industry. As a recording artist, she has released three full-length albums: Supersize, Bitches brauchen Rap, and Schlau aber blond, alongside a series of chart-topping singles across Germany and Austria.

David was born in Hamburg to an Iranian father and a Lithuanian mother, spending her earliest years in Lithuania. She began playing the piano during her childhood and subsequently learned the violin and the oboe. In addition to instrumental music, she received training at the Hamburg Youth Opera Academy and took dance classes at the ballet school of the Hamburg Ballet.

In March 2014, David launched her YouTube channel, which eventually became one of the most-subscribed channels in Germany. She achieved her first top-ten entry on the German charts in 2015 as a featured artist on Ado Kojo's single "Du liebst mich nicht," a cover of a track by Sabrina Setlur. After ending her contract with her network TubeOne Networks in February 2016, she served as a judge on Deutschland sucht den Superstar in 2017. She moved to Berlin in 2018 after residing in Cologne for over three years.

David released her solo debut single "Orbit" in January 2019, followed in February by "Gib ihm," which reached number one in Germany. That year, she released additional tracks including "ICE," "Fliegst du mit," "On Off" featuring Maître Gims, and "Brillis," while also featuring on Shindy's "Affalterbach." On September 20, 2019, she issued her debut album Supersize alongside the single "Nur mit dir" featuring Xavier Naidoo. Supersize topped the German Album Top 100, making her the first domestic female solo hip-hop act to reach number one with a debut release.

In April 2020, David earned her second German number-one single and first Austrian number-one hit with "90-60-111." Following a feature on Haftbefehl's "Conan x Xenia," she released "Hoe's Up G's Down" and collaborated with Luciano on "Never Know," which reached the top ten in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Her second studio album, Bitches brauchen Rap, was released on November 19, 2021.

David served as a coach on season 13 of The Voice of Germany in 2023. In July 2024, her single "Bauch Beine Po" reached number one in Germany, making her the first female artist globally to collect seven German number-one singles. She released her third album, Schlau aber blond, on February 14, 2025, which became her second album to top the German chart. She returned to The Voice of Germany for season 15 in late 2025, becoming the first female coach on the show to advance two acts to the final, and signed on for season 16 in 2026. On May 22, 2026, she released the viral collaboration "Gut Genug" with KitschKrieg and Blumengarten, which topped the charts in Austria and Germany to give her an eighth German number-one single.

Alongside music and television, David has launched several commercial enterprises. Following earlier perfume releases in partnership with dm-drogerie in 2017 and Douglas in 2019, she introduced her beauty care line, shirin beauty, in April 2025. In 2021, she launched the ice tea brand DirTea, expanding it to include sparkling alcoholic and zero-sugar variations distributed across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. A Netflix documentary titled Barbara — Becoming Shirin David was released in 2026.
