Reni Tolvai

Renáta Tímea "Reni" Tolvai is a Hungarian-Romanian musical artist. She gained widespread public attention in 2010 after competing in and winning the fifth season of Megasztár, the Hungarian version of Idol. In addition to winning the competition, she was named the Hungarian Voice of the Year at nineteen years old.

Tolvai was born on 24 March 1991 in Oradea, Romania, as part of the country's Hungarian minority population.

Following her television victory, she launched her professional recording career. Her debut single, "Hagylak menni," arrived in August 2011 alongside a music video. The track achieved significant commercial success, topping radio playlists in Hungary and accumulating millions of views online. Later that same year, she released her debut solo studio album, titled Ékszer.

Over the following years, Tolvai continued to release new music and perform nationally and internationally. In 2013, she issued the pop single "Playdate" with an accompanying video, as well as a collaborative project featuring DJ Metzker Viktória and No!End, which had been originally recorded in Chicago in 2012. In 2014, she released the hit single "Shout" and embarked on a concert tour across the United States, performing in locations throughout Florida, New York, and New Jersey. Beyond her solo releases, she entered the Hungarian national selection contest A Dal in 2012, 2016, and 2018.

Tolvai's musical style primarily combines R&B and pop, while also incorporating elements of electro-pop, soul, and jazz. She has cited artists such as Beyoncé and Aretha Franklin as key creative influences on her work.

Throughout her career, Tolvai has earned numerous accolades in Hungary and the region. Her awards include multiple Bravo Otto honors, such as Female Singer of the Year in 2011 and 2012, and Video of the Year for "Hagylak menni" in 2012. She was also named Female Performer of the Year at the 2012 Viva Comet awards and received the Best Hungarian Dance-Pop Hit of the Year title at the Transylvanian Music Awards.

In her personal life, Tolvai was previously involved in a relationship with Hungarian-American singer András Kállay-Saunders, whom she met while both were contestants on Megasztár. The couple separated in 2021 before reuniting in 2024.
