Red Gerard

Redmond Gerard is an American snowboarder born on June 29, 2000. He was born and raised in Ohio and later moved to Silverthorne, Colorado, where he maintains a miniature snowboarding park with a rope tow in his backyard. He is the brother of food blogger Tieghan Gerard of Half Baked Harvest and serves as a spokesperson for the Toyota Motor Corporation.

Gerard established his professional career in international snowboarding competitions, placing first overall for slopestyle in the 2016–17 FIS Snowboard World Cup. His early World Cup achievements included a third-place finish at Kreischberg and a first-place victory at Mammoth during the 2016–17 season. In the following season, he took second place in big air at Milan and won the slopestyle event at Snowmass. Prior to his Olympic debut, Sports Illustrated named him as their prediction to win the Olympic gold medal in men's snowboarding slopestyle.

Gerard represented the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympics, competing in slopestyle and big air. He won the gold medal in slopestyle, making him the first Winter Olympics medalist born in the 2000s, the first American gold medalist at the 2018 Games, and the youngest American to win a medal in an Olympic snowboarding event. During the event, he overslept after staying up late, lost his jacket, borrowed a jacket from his roommate, and accidentally used profanity on live television following his victory.

Following his 2018 Olympic success, Gerard continued to compete at major events. In 2019, he won the Burton US Open in slopestyle, earned a second-place finish in the big air World Cup event at Cardrona, and won the slopestyle World Cup event at Mammoth. In 2020, he placed second in slopestyle at the Laax Open and won the Dew Tour slopestyle title, which he successfully defended the following year. He also earned a bronze medal in slopestyle at the X Games in 2020.

At the 2022 Winter Olympics, Gerard represented Team USA in slopestyle, placing fourth in the final, and finished fifth in the big air event. That same year, he won the Mammoth World Cup slopestyle event for a second time, placed second in slopestyle at the Aspen World Cup, and recorded third-place World Cup finishes in big air at Edmonton and Copper.

In subsequent seasons, Gerard won back-to-back gold medals in slopestyle at the X Games in 2024 and 2025. In 2025, he achieved two second-place finishes in slopestyle at the Laax Open and the Calgary World Cup.
