Nusraat Faria

Nusraat Faria Mazhar, initially named Faria Shetu, is a Bangladeshi performer recognized for her work in Dhallywood and Tollywood film industries. Throughout her career, she has built a diverse portfolio as a screen actress, fashion model, vocalist, television host, and radio jockey. She first gained widespread public attention through her appearances in commercial advertisements and broadcast television before establishing herself as a lead actor in major film productions.

Born on September 8, 1995, in Dhaka, Faria grew up in the Dhaka Cantonment area due to her grandfather's background as a military officer. During her student years, she excelled in competitive public speaking, competing on a Bangladesh Television debate program and earning national debate championship titles in both 2010 and 2011. She later pursued higher education alongside her media work, graduating with a law degree from the University of London in 2021. In her personal life, she was engaged to Roni Riyad Rashid in 2020, though the relationship ended in 2023.

Faria's path in entertainment began with print and television commercials. She made her debut on television in the program Thik Bolchen To on RTV and attracted broader interest in 2012 through NTV's Thirty-First Dhamaka Cox's Bazar broadcast. Her hosting capabilities received praise when she presented a live concert event featuring singer Sunidhi Chauhan in 2013. Over the following years, she hosted various televised programs, including the reality series Fair and Handsome: The Ultimate Man in 2014, Late Night Coffee, Clear SA Live Studio, Trend, Lux World of Glamour, and Style and Trend, while also presenting the Night Shift program on Radio Foorti.

Her feature film acting career launched after signing a multi-film contract with Jaaz Multimedia. She made her cinematic debut opposite Ankush Hazra in the 2015 joint Indo-Bangladeshi release Aashiqui, which achieved commercial success and earned her the Meril Prothom Alo Award for Best Newcomer. She followed this project with Hero 420 in early 2016. Her career reached a major milestone later that year when she starred alongside Jeet in Badsha – The Don, a performance that earned her a Tele Cine Award for Best Actress from Bangladesh.

Faria expanded her acting filmography in 2017 with roles in Premi O Premi, Dhat Teri Ki, and Boss 2: Back to Rule, while also contributing voice work to Detective, recognized as the country's initial animated feature film. Aside from acting, she recorded the music video Pataka and later appeared in the 2020 action film Shahenshah alongside Shakib Khan, securing a CJFB Performance Award nomination. Her subsequent projects included playing a tiger researcher in the 2022 feature Operation Sundarbans, starring in the horror production Jinn 3, and portraying Sheikh Hasina in the biographical drama Mujib: The Making of a Nation.

In May 2025, Faria faced legal complications when she was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka connected to a case originating from events during a July 2024 political movement. The case alleged that she and several other public figures provided financial support to counter student protests. Although her initial bail plea was turned down, sending her to prison on May 19, she was granted bail the following day. Her detainment was viewed by critics as tied to her screen portrayal of former political leadership.
