Jordan Alexander Spieth is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour and a former world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking. Best known for winning three major championships, he reached the top ranking after claiming both the Masters Tournament and the U.S. Open in 2015, followed by the Open Championship in 2017. As of 2026, he has secured a total of 13 PGA Tour victories.

Spieth was born on July 27, 1993, in Dallas, Texas, to Shawn and Mary Christine Spieth. He learned to play golf at the Brookhaven Country Club. He attended St. Monica Catholic School and graduated from the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas in 2011. His grandfather, Donald Spieth, was a music teacher and long-time orchestra conductor in Pennsylvania.

As a junior golfer, Spieth won the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2009 and 2011, joining Tiger Woods as the tournament's only two-time winners, and was named Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 2009. He competed in the PGA Tour's HP Byron Nelson Championship on amateur exemptions in 2010 and 2011, making the cut both times. Spieth attended the University of Texas, where he led the team to an NCAA championship and earned Big 12 Freshman and Player of the Year honors. After finishing as low amateur at the 2012 U.S. Open, he reached number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking before turning professional in December 2012.

Spieth made his professional debut in late 2012 and secured sponsorship partnerships with Under Armour and BioSteel in early 2013. In July 2013, he won his first PGA Tour title at the John Deere Classic at age 19, becoming the first teenage PGA Tour winner since 1931. He earned full tour status and was named the 2013 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. In 2014, Spieth finished tied for second in his Masters Tournament debut, becoming the youngest runner-up in the tournament's history. Later that year, he made his Ryder Cup debut and won both the Emirates Australian Open and the Hero World Challenge.

In 2015, Spieth achieved major success by winning the Masters Tournament, tying the 72-hole scoring record of 18-under par in a wire-to-wire victory. He followed this with a victory at the 2015 U.S. Open, becoming the youngest champion of the event since 1923. After finishing runner-up at the 2015 PGA Championship, Spieth attained the world number one ranking for the first time. He went on to win the Tour Championship, securing the 2015 FedEx Cup and setting a single-season PGA Tour earnings record. His achievements earned him the PGA Tour Player of the Year award and the Laureus World Sports Award for Breakthrough of the Year.

Spieth began 2016 with a win at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions before capturing his third major title at the 2017 Open Championship. Following a period of reduced form without a tournament win for several years, Spieth returned to victory in 2021, bringing his career total to 13 PGA Tour titles as of 2026.
