Jackie Beat

Jackie Beat, born July 24, 1963, is the drag persona of American actor, singer, songwriter, and screenwriter Kent Fuher. Beat is known for creative work across film, television, music, and live cabaret performances, appearing both in and out of drag.

Born Kent Fuher to parents Jack and Liliana Fuher, Beat debuted the drag persona at Café Largo in Los Angeles during the late 1980s. Beat subsequently developed a long-standing presence in live stage performance and comedy.

Throughout a career in film and television, Beat has appeared in independent feature films such as Wigstock: The Movie, Flawless, and Adam & Steve. For Adam & Steve, Beat also wrote and performed the song "Dance Off." On television, Beat appeared on the series Sex and the City and served as a writer for Hype, a short-lived sketch comedy series on The WB Television Network.

Beat established a strong reputation on the New York City cabaret scene, performing annual sold-out runs for Gay Pride and Christmas. Live appearances have spanned numerous venues across the United States, including Martinis Above Fourth in San Diego, Executive Suite in Long Beach, Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood, Cavern Club in Silver Lake, Badlands in Sacramento, Re-bar and Julia's Restaurant in Seattle, and the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York City. Internationally, Beat has performed at Bob's Comedy Funhouse in Cardiff, Sheffield, Nottingham, Manchester, and London, as well as 170 Russell in Melbourne and FAMILY in Brisbane, Australia.

In music, Beat serves as the lead singer of the Electroclash band Dirty Sanchez. As a solo music artist, Beat has released seven albums, which consist primarily of parodies of mainstream songs.

Beat hosted the Seattle Pride Parade in 2015. In March 2019, Beat portrayed Bea Arthur at The MisMatch Game, hosted by Dennis Hensley for the Los Angeles LGBT Center's 15th Anniversary celebration. Beat frequently performs as Arthur and her Golden Girls character Dorothy Zbornak, notably in the parody theater production The Golden Gurlz. Over time, Beat has been profiled by news publications including The Los Angeles Times, The Huffington Post, LA Weekly, and The New York Times.

Beat lived in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles for many years before selling the property in 2016 to reside in Altadena, California. Beat is a vocal supporter of President Barack Obama and a critic of political figures such as Donald Trump and Sarah Palin.
