Before achieving viral success on social media, Jacobs worked as a staff member at the Cutchogue New Suffolk Free Library in Mattituck, New York. Jacobs also launched a personal book blogging website in 2016, writing written reviews and curating reading recommendations for a modest audience prior to transitioning into short-form video creation.

Jacobs created the TikTok account @caitsbooks in December 2019.
