Ailee

Amy Lee, known professionally as Ailee, is an American singer and songwriter based in South Korea. She is known for her successful digital releases in South Korea, including four studio albums, seven extended plays, and twenty-one singles. Six of her singles have reached the top five of the Gaon Digital Chart. Over the course of her career, she has won numerous accolades, including multiple Best New Artist awards and four consecutive Mnet Asian Music Awards for Best Female Vocal Performance.

Ailee was born in Denver, Colorado, on May 30, 1989, and grew up in New Jersey. She attended Palisades Park High School, Leonia High School, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. Following her graduation, she studied communications at Pace University before leaving her studies to pursue music. Prior to her debut in South Korea, she was signed to Muzo Entertainment in New York and New Jersey, collaborating with artists such as Johnnyphlo and Decipher, while building an online presence through YouTube.

In 2010, Ailee moved to South Korea after auditioning for YMC Entertainment. Before her official debut, she featured on songs by Wheesung, Decipher, and Jay Park, and won the MBC Chuseok special program Singer and Trainee in 2011. She officially debuted in February 2012 with the single "Heaven," which reached number three on the Gaon Digital Chart. Later that year, she released her debut extended play, Invitation, led by the track "I Will Show You." Her early success earned her Best New Artist honors at several major events, including the Melon Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, and Seoul Music Awards.

Ailee expanded her discography with the extended plays A's Doll House in 2013 and Magazine in 2014, featuring the top-charting singles "U&I" and "Don't Touch Me." She also made her Japanese debut in late 2013. In July 2015, she held her first solo concert, Fatal Attraction, at the Olympic Hall, followed by the release of her first full-length studio album, Vivid, in September 2015. She secured four consecutive Mnet Asian Music Award titles for Best Female Vocal Performance from 2013 to 2016 for her songs "U&I," "Singing Got Better," "Mind Your Own Business," and "If You."

In 2017, Ailee recorded "I Will Go to You Like the First Snow" for the soundtrack of the television drama series Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. The track topped the Gaon Digital Chart for three consecutive weeks, became the top digital seller of the year in South Korea, and won multiple original soundtrack awards. During this period, she embarked on her Welcome Home Tour, performed internationally, sang at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, and joined a South Korean cultural delegation to Pyongyang.

Between 2019 and 2023, Ailee released her second studio album, Butterfly, her third studio album, Amy, and the English-language studio album I'm Lovin' Amy. She also released the extended plays I'm and Lovin', along with English singles such as "Sweater" and various soundtrack appearances. During these years, she managed her own agency, Rocket3 Entertainment, and later held contracts with The L1ve and A2Z Entertainment.

In March 2025, Ailee released her seventh extended play, titled (Me)moir. In her personal life, she registered her marriage to actor Choi Si-hun in August 2024, and the couple held their wedding ceremony in Gangnam on April 20, 2025.
