About (G)I-dle
I-dle, formerly stylized as (G)I-dle, is a South Korean girl group formed by Cube Entertainment in Seoul, South Korea. The group officially debuted in May 2018 with the extended play I Am and its breakout lead single "Latata". Unlike many mainstream K-pop acts, the group established itself from its inception as a self-producing unit, with members actively writing, composing, and arranging their material.
Formation and Lineup
The group was originally launched as a six-member ensemble. The current lineup consists of five members: Miyeon (main vocalist), Minnie (lead vocalist), Soyeon (leader, main rapper, and chief producer), Yuqi (lead vocalist and lead dancer), and Shuhua (sub-vocalist). Former member Soojin departed the group in August 2021. The members contribute extensively to the group's creative direction, conceptualizing visual themes and crafting distinct musical styles that blend pop, hip-hop, rock, and electronic elements.
Key Milestones and Discography
After early success on Mnet's reality competition show Queendom in 2019 and a series of successful mini-albums, I-dle reached new commercial heights with their studio album I Never Die and its hit single "Tomboy". Subsequent releases, including "Nxde" from I Love and "Queencard" from I Feel, solidified their position at the top of South Korean domestic digital charts with multiple Perfect All-Kills. Their physical releases regularly cross the million-seller milestone, including their second studio album 2 and subsequent mini-albums such as I Sway, We Are, and their July 2026 mini-album We made featuring the lead track "Gimme Dat Love". In late 2024, all five members renewed their exclusive contracts with Cube Entertainment, subsequently streamlining their brand name from (G)I-dle to I-dle.
Global Impact and Touring
I-dle has built a robust global footprint, completing several major world tours including the Just Me ( )I-DLE tour, the I-dol World Tour, and their 2026 Syncopation World Tour. Through self-directed artistry and songs that challenge conventional industry standards, the group has earned critical acclaim and multiple major accolades across Korean year-end award shows.
