Drew Starkey and Cailee Spaeny have officially confirmed their romantic relationship after being spotted together on a stroll through Los Angeles. The pair were photographed holding hands, laughing, and sharing affectionate moments during an evening walk in California. The public appearance effectively puts an end to weeks of online speculation surrounding their off-screen relationship following the completion of their upcoming feature film project.
Starkey, 32, and Spaeny, 28, recently wrapped production on A24’s highly anticipated film adaptation of Deep Cuts. Directed by Sean Durkin, the feature adapts Holly Brickley’s bestselling novel, which follows two music-obsessed twentysomethings navigating ambition, intimacy, and coming-of-age in the 2000s. Rumors of a romance first surfaced when fans noticed the co-stars spending time together off set during production earlier this year, as well as attending informal gatherings in London in early September.
Starkey is best known for his breakout role as Rafe Cameron in Netflix's hit drama Outer Banks, a character he portrayed across the show's run through its emotional final chapter in 2026. Beyond his television success, the North Carolina native has built an impressive cinematic resume, appearing in Luca Guadagnino’s acclaimed period drama Queer alongside Daniel Craig and starring in Adam Wingard’s action thriller Onslaught opposite Adria Arjona and Dan Stevens.
Spaeny has enjoyed a rapid rise of her own, earning a Golden Globe nomination for her starring portrayal of Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola’s 2023 biopic Priscilla, as well as lead roles in Alex Garland’s blockbuster drama Civil War and Fede Álvarez’s sci-fi hit Alien: Romulus. Her instant chemistry with Starkey both on and off set has made their upcoming collaboration one of the most discussed indie projects on A24's upcoming distribution slate.
While neither actor's representative has issued a formal statement regarding the romance, fans and industry observers are eagerly anticipating the publicity tour for Deep Cuts. In addition, Starkey’s thriller Onslaught makes its transition to digital platforms this week following its theatrical run. With multiple high-profile projects in the pipeline, both performers continue to solidify their status among Hollywood's most compelling rising talents.
