Emmy and Golden Globe winner Ayo Edebiri made headlines as Apple TV unveiled the first official promotional images and release schedule for her upcoming romantic comedy series Prodigies. On October 9, 2026, the streaming platform offered audiences an exclusive look at the seven-episode British series, confirming a global premiere date set for February 10, 2027. Edebiri co-stars in the production alongside creative partner Will Sharpe, with both actors also serving as executive producers.
Prodigies follows the story of Didi, played by Edebiri, and Ren, played by Sharpe, two former child prodigies who have been in a romantic relationship since the age of nine. Now navigating their early thirties across locations in London, Tokyo, and Virginia, the couple begins to question whether their ordinary adult lives match the extraordinary expectations of their youth. The series is produced by the award-winning production company Sister Pictures and explores themes of ambition, romance, and long-term partnership.
Edebiri's lead role in Prodigies comes during an extraordinary trajectory in her acting career. She achieved widespread critical acclaim for her performance as chef Sydney Adamu on the hit comedy-drama series The Bear, earning an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She expanded her feature film portfolio with acclaimed turns in the comedy film Bottoms, the theatrical blockbuster Inside Out 2, and high-profile hosting appearances on Saturday Night Live.
Beyond her on-screen achievements, Edebiri has steadily built a reputation as a versatile creative force behind the camera. She previously contributed as a writer and producer on series such as What We Do in the Shadows and Dickinson before stepping into executive producer roles on major prestige network projects.
Apple TV's announcement places Prodigies as a flagship Valentine's Day seasonal release for early 2027. The series will launch with its first two episodes on February 10, followed by weekly single-episode drops leading up to its season finale in mid-March.
