During his conversational appearances, Stallone reflected on the upcoming 50th anniversary of his breakout cinematic masterpiece, Rocky. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker revisited the grueling personal struggles he faced while trying to launch the 1976 boxing drama, including living in extreme poverty before refusing to sell his original screenplay unless studio executives allowed him to star as the title protagonist Rocky Balboa. Stallone noted that while he spent decades viewing himself as an outsider fighting uphill battles, he now considers himself immensely fortunate for his lasting career.
In addition to reflecting on his cinematic achievements, Stallone addressed the forthcoming biographical film I Play Rocky, directed by Peter Farrelly. The upcoming biopic stars actor Anthony Ippolito as a young Stallone during the chaotic development and production of the original film.
