British actress and director Rebecca Hall has taken center stage as the lead of Maison Margiela's Fall/Winter 2026 global campaign film, titled Anonymity. Formally released on September 10, 2026, the short cinematic promo was directed and photographed by renowned visual artist Thibaut Grevet. The avant-garde project blends high-end fashion with psychological thriller tropes, placing Hall in the role of a seasoned actress who is forced to confront a mysterious, masked double of herself within an increasingly surreal domestic setting. Styled by Ursina Gysi with makeup by Lucia Pica and hair by Tom Wright, the campaign showcases standout tailoring, textured outerwear, and structured silhouettes from the French fashion house's newest seasonal line.

The dramatic concept of Anonymity directly explores Maison Margiela's long-standing thematic fascination with identity, mystery, and sartorial concealment. Throughout the moody film, Hall moves through dark, unsettling scenes where television monitors bleed visual noise and faceless figures wearing artisanal fabric masks silently invade her surroundings. The visual narrative builds upon the luxury house's recent museum retrospective in Beijing, titled Anonymity: Our History of Masks, which examined the house's historic use of face coverings since its founding. Hall's captivating performance provides a compelling dramatic foundation for the brand's autumnal rollout.

Hall has built an internationally recognized career spanning more than two decades across stage, television, and feature films. She gained widespread public attention for her breakthrough performance in Woody Allen's 2008 romantic comedy-drama Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which earned her a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Since then, her filmography has encompassed a wide array of high-profile projects, including Christopher Nolan's mystery thriller The Prestige, Ben Affleck's crime drama The Town, the biographical drama Christine, and major studio blockbusters such as Godzilla vs. Kong and its 2024 sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Beyond her acclaimed screen acting, Hall expanded her creative output into filmmaking with her feature directorial debut, the 2021 historical drama Passing. Starring Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga, the black-and-white film was adapted from Nella Larsen's landmark 1929 novel and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical praise for its nuanced handling of complex social themes. Hall's extensive experience on both sides of the camera made her an ideal collaborator for Margiela's filmic approach to seasonal campaign storytelling.

The release of Anonymity underscores the growing trend of luxury heritage labels partnering with world-class performing talent to create narrative-driven fashion content. As Maison Margiela's Fall/Winter 2026 collection arrives in flagship stores worldwide this month, Hall's collaboration highlights the enduring connection between global cinema and contemporary high fashion.
