Supermodel Gigi Hadid took to social media on October 21, 2026, to defend fellow runway model Elsa Hosk following online criticism regarding Hosk's walk at the 2026 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Responding to a viral post on Threads that questioned Hosk's catwalk technique, Hadid offered an insider perspective on the immense physical demands placed on models wearing elaborate runway props during live productions.

Hadid detailed the engineering complexities behind modern Victoria's Secret wings, clarifying that today's designs present unique physical challenges. She noted that modern runway wings can weigh upwards of 75 pounds, stand over 10 feet tall, and frequently incorporate complex internal structures or motorized components. Combined with strong stage wind fans and extended runway lengths, Hadid emphasized that navigating the catwalk requires exceptional physical strength and poise, praising Hosk for executing her walk with professional grace.

Both models were key figures at the October 18 presentation in Los Angeles, California. Hadid delivered two distinct runway moments during the event, appearing first in a pastel blue and pink ensemble featuring silver sequin wings during a performance by Tate McRae, before returning in a classic white angel look. Hosk, a long-time Victoria's Secret Angel who previously wore the $1 million Dream Angels Fantasy Bra in 2018, returned to the brand's catwalk after an eight-year hiatus.

Since making her professional runway debut in 2014, Hadid has established herself as one of the fashion industry's most recognizable and commercially successful figures. Beyond her extensive work with major luxury houses including Chanel, Versace, and Prada, Hadid served as co-host on Netflix's competition series Next in Fashion and founded the guest-focused cashmere knitwear brand Guest in Residence in 2022.

Hadid's candid response highlights the strong professional solidarity among top international models and brings attention to the craftsmanship and athletic endurance behind major production shows. Her defense of Hosk underscores how high-fashion presentations continue to generate intense public interest and digital engagement.
