Actress Ariel Winter has opened up about her decision to step away from the bustling atmosphere of Hollywood and establish a new home base outside of Los Angeles. In a candid interview, the former child star explained how relocating to the Nashville, Tennessee area allowed her to rediscover personal privacy and embrace a more balanced lifestyle after spending her upbringing under public scrutiny.

Winter shared that while she remains deeply grateful for her acting career, living full-time in California began to feel overwhelming due to constant media attention and paparazzi pressure. Seeking a quieter environment, she purchased a home in College Grove near Nashville in May 2022. The move allowed her to experience distinct seasonal changes and enjoy a calmer day-to-day routine, though she continues to split her time between Southern California and Tennessee for professional commitments.

The actress spent eleven seasons starring as the brilliant middle child Alex Dunphy on the hit ABC sitcom Modern Family, which ran from 2009 to 2020. Playing the role from age eleven into adulthood made Winter one of the most recognizable young actors of her generation. During her time on the show, she earned four Screen Actors Guild Awards as part of the ensemble cast and expanded her resume with voice work on animated projects like Sofia the First.

Navigating fame at a young age presented unique challenges for Winter, who has frequently spoken out about mental health awareness, body image positivity, and legal protections for child performers. Following her emancipation at age fourteen, she became an active voice advocating for adolescent privacy and well-being in the entertainment industry.

Winter emphasized that moving away from Los Angeles does not mean retiring from acting. She continues to take on new film and television roles, including working on the series The Sisters Grimm, while prioritizing her personal happiness. The actress maintained that establishing physical distance from Hollywood has provided invaluable peace of mind.
