Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and producer Tinashe officially released her eighth studio album, Popstar, on September 25, 2026. Distributed through Atlantic Records in partnership with Nice Life Recording Company and her independent imprint Tinashe Music, the 16-track project serves as the grand finale to a creative trilogy that began with 2023's BB/Ang3l and continued with 2024's Quantum Baby. The release marks her first major-label studio album in eight years, positioning her for a major new era in her career.
Popstar represents Tinashe's most expansive collection of music to date, spanning nearly 40 minutes without a single featured guest artist. Led by hit pre-release singles such as "Crash Out," "Melatonin," and "Too Easy," the album explores themes of independence, romance, and artistic evolution. Speaking about the record's concept, Tinashe noted that she set out to challenge traditional industry definitions of what it means to be a modern pop artist by fluidly blending pop, dance, hyperpop, R&B, and hip-hop elements.
Tinashe first entered the music industry as a member of the girl group The Stunners before establishing herself as a solo force through a series of self-recorded, critically praised mixtapes recorded in her home studio. She achieved mainstream success with her 2014 debut album Aquarius, which yielded the double-platinum smash single "2 On" featuring Schoolboy Q.
