Actor Alan Ritchson's fast-paced thriller Runner has officially made its home entertainment debut, launching on digital video platforms following its run in theaters. Directed by Scott Waugh and released by Angel Studios, the film stars Ritchson as Hank Malone, a former soldier thrust into a high-stakes transport mission through hostile territory. Co-starring Owen Wilson and Leila George, the film hit digital purchase and rental outlets after completing its multi-week theatrical window in thousands of domestic theaters.
Runner marks Ritchson's third major feature release of the year, underscoring an unusually busy period for the leading man. Ritchson has solidified his standing as a premiere action star through his portrayal of Jack Reacher in Prime Video's flagship drama series Reacher, which concluded its fourth season with strong viewership figures. Alongside his television achievements, Ritchson's recent film slate includes Netflix's sci-fi film War Machine and the crime thriller Motor City.
While his big-screen projects have catered to dedicated genre audiences, Ritchson's projects consistently perform well upon transitioning to streaming and digital formats. Critics and audiences responded favorably to Runner's practical stunts and comedic dynamic between Ritchson and Wilson, leading to a solid audience approval score on review aggregator sites during its theatrical stay.
As Runner enters the home viewing marketplace, Ritchson remains focused on his heavy production slate. He is expected to begin preparation for future streaming commitments and potential sequels tied to his current action properties. The digital availability of Runner allows international viewers and home audiences to catch the action star's latest film as he continues filming television projects in Toronto.
