Veronica Varlow

Veronica Varlow is an American burlesque dancer, pin-up model, author, actress, producer, and performance artist based in Brooklyn, New York. She is a witch descended from five generations of Czech-Romani witches. Using magic passed down through her grandmother Helen’s lineage, she combines traditional practices with her own signature sorcery to assist people in amplifying their truest self.

Varlow began her career in performance after being attacked by a dog in December 2003. She later gained international recognition performing as part of Emilie Autumn's Bloody Crumpets under the name "The Naughty Veronica," a role she started in 2007.

Throughout her career, Varlow has performed at events held by high-profile figures and organizations, including designer Marc Jacobs, supermodel Heidi Klum, The Whitney Museum, and best-selling novelist Melissa de la Cruz. In 2013, she was named one of the 12 "Hottest Ladies of Burlesque," alongside historical performers such as Bettie Page, Lili St. Cyr, and Sherry Britton.

Varlow's work in television and film includes participating as a coach for Andrea Martin on MTV's show MADE in the fall of 2008. She appeared in the 2009 film Exposed, as well as Peter Bolte's 2010 short documentary Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School. In 2013, she featured in Emilie Autumn's music video for the song "Fight Like A Girl."

As an author, Varlow released her first book, Bohemian Magick: Witchcraft and Secret Spells to Electrify Your Life, through HarperCollins on November 2, 2021.

In her personal life, Varlow was married to photographer Burke Heffner on June 24, 2006. She later married David Garfinkel on October 31, 2020. Together with Garfinkel, she runs a coven at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City. She lives in Brooklyn and also owns a house in Woodstock, New York, named Curiosa, which is affectionately called "Magic House" and serves as the location where she hosts yearly Witch Camp retreats.
