Actor Robert Pattinson has shared his excitement and gratitude as filming resumes on DC Studios' superhero sequel The Batman Part II. Speaking in a recent interview with GamesRadar+, the star praised acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh for stepping in to help complete principal photography alongside director Matt Reeves, who temporarily stepped away from set to focus on an ongoing family matter. Pattinson described Soderbergh's gesture as incredibly generous and selfless, expressing full confidence in the collaborative effort to finish the film.
Production on the high-profile sequel was briefly paused in England when Warner Bros. and DC Studios announced Reeves needed to step back. Shortly thereafter, Soderbergh approached the studio and offered his assistance to ensure the project stayed on track while adhering strictly to Reeves' established vision. DC Studios co-chief James Gunn confirmed on social media that Reeves remains the sole director of the sequel and will oversee post-production and editing.
Pattinson confirmed that cameras are actively rolling again and that he is set to rejoin the set within days. He emphasized that Soderbergh's involvement is purely supportive, aimed at helping execute the script and getting the raw footage ready for Reeves in the editing room. The camaraderie between two major Hollywood filmmakers has earned widespread praise across the entertainment industry.
The Batman Part II serves as the follow-up to the 2022 blockbuster The Batman, which grossed over $770 million worldwide and established a grounded, noir-inspired iteration of Gotham City. Pattinson earned widespread critical acclaim for his brooding portrayal of Bruce Wayne and the Caped Crusader. In addition to returning cast members, the sequel has expanded its ensemble to include top-tier talent, further raising anticipation for the high-octane comic book adaptation.
Outside of his superhero responsibilities, Pattinson has maintained a diverse portfolio of film projects, recently promoting the drama Primetime directed by Lance Oppenheim. With filming back underway under Soderbergh and Reeves, Pattinson is preparing for an intense stretch of shooting as DC Studios continues building out its expanding universe of films.
