American actress Emma Roberts is set to return to FX's flagship horror franchise following the official premiere announcement and teaser trailer release for American Horror Story Season 13. FX confirmed on September 4, 2026, that the upcoming thirteen-episode installment will premiere on September 24, 2026, before streaming on Hulu the following day. Roberts will reprise her widely popular role as Madison Montgomery in what network producers describe as a landmark season celebrating the show's history.
The new season comes after a multi-year hiatus for the anthology created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Billed by cast members as a legacy reunion, Season 13 brings back numerous fan-favorite actors from earlier installments. The newly released teaser trailer highlights iconic characters and eerie visuals, reestablishing the franchise's signature gothic atmosphere while setting up a fresh story arc designed around classic horror tropes.
Roberts first joined the American Horror Story ensemble during its third season, Coven, in 2013, where her portrayal of the glamorous yet ruthless witch Madison Montgomery quickly made her a cornerstone performer of the franchise. She subsequently starred in Freak Show, Cult, Apocalypse, and 1984, establishing herself as one of Murphy's most frequent television collaborators. Beyond the anthology, Roberts starred in Murphy's comedy-horror series Scream Queens as Chanel Oberlin.
Outside of her extensive television work, Roberts has built a versatile feature film career spanning studio productions and independent cinema. She gained early recognition on Nickelodeon's Unfabulous before starring in films such as We're the Millers, Nerve, The Blackcoat's Daughter, and Madame Web. Alongside her acting career, Roberts co-founded Belletrist, a popular online book club and media production company that adapts literary works for television and film.
With Season 13 scheduled to debut later this month, Roberts is expected to take part in upcoming promotional press tours and festival appearances supporting the broadcast launch. The new season aims to bolster viewership across cable and digital platforms as FX continues to expand its original television lineup.
