The BBC has officially announced that its hit property renovation travel series fronted by TV personality Amanda Holden and comedian Alan Carr will be put on hold and will not air a new season in 2027. The popular factual entertainment format, which most recently broadcast as Amanda & Alan's Greek Job on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, saw the close friends purchase derelict European properties for nominal fees before undertaking full structural and interior overhauls.
A spokesperson for the broadcaster explained that the decision to pause the series stems entirely from the presenters' busy professional commitments rather than a lack of audience interest. The BBC reiterated its appreciation for the show's strong viewership figures across broadcast and streaming, confirming that both hosts remain in active development talks with the network for future television collaborations.
The hiatus comes as both stars manage extensive slates across television and radio. Holden continues her longstanding role as a judge on ITV's flagship talent competition Britain's Got Talent alongside fellow panellists, while also co-hosting Capital FM's national breakfast radio show. Carr, meanwhile, has taken on several high-profile entertainment ventures, including a major unscripted property development project titled Castle Man for Disney+, which follows his own quest to purchase and restore a historic estate.
Spanning four successful seasons, the franchise originally debuted as Amanda & Alan's Italian Job, taking the duo to rural regions in Sicily and Tuscany before expanding into Spain and Greece. The restored homes were subsequently listed on the open market, with all proceeds donated to UK children's charities including BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief. Viewers can still access previous installments of the show on BBC iPlayer as both presenters focus on their respective individual projects over the coming year.
