Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway stepped out in New York City on September 29, 2026, for the premiere of her psychological thriller feature, Verity. Dressed in a custom Prabal Gurung gown, the acclaimed performer generated significant media attention as she led the cast across the red carpet at the Manhattan venue. Hathaway took a prominent role during the evening’s festivities, greeting fans, coordinating group photographs with fellow cast members, and participating in junket interviews ahead of the project’s official nationwide release.
Directed by Michael Showalter from a screenplay adapted by Nick Antosca, Verity is based on the popular 2018 novel by Colleen Hoover. Produced under the Amazon MGM Studios banner, the narrative centers on Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is hired by Jeremy Crawford to complete the remaining books in a lucrative literary franchise. Hathaway plays the titular role of Verity Crawford, an enigmatic author left unable to write after a tragic accident, whose secret draft manuscripts reveal unsettling truths to her successor.
The feature film reunites Hathaway with Amazon MGM Studios and showcases her alongside co-stars Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett. The project caps off a remarkably busy production schedule for Hathaway, who continues to maintain her standing as one of cinema’s most compelling leading actors. Her appearance at the Manhattan premiere follows a string of major releases, including her key supporting performance in Christopher Nolan’s historical blockbuster film The Odyssey and her starring role in the music drama Mother Mary.
Hathaway first achieved global recognition in 2001 after starring in Disney’s coming-of-age comedy The Princess Diaries. Over the subsequent two decades, she established a highly versatile filmography across major studio blockbusters and critical indie favorites, earning an Oscar nomination for Jonathan Demme’s 2008 drama Rachel Getting Married and praise for her turn as Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises. Her performance as Fantine in the 2012 movie musical Les Misérables earned her the Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Following its high-profile red-carpet debut in New York City, Verity is scheduled to open in theaters across North America on October 2, 2026, with international distribution handled by Sony Pictures Releasing. The theatrical rollout positions the movie as one of autumn's major suspense releases, while Hathaway continues developing several future feature projects through her production company.
