Born in San Jose, California, Willson developed an early interest in music, taking piano and vocal lessons during her childhood. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating in 2015 with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. Following graduation, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue songwriting and demo singing. Her professional career gained initial traction when she featured on Swedish DJ Ben Phipps' viral track "Sleep Alone," followed by a feature on Shaun Frank's Juno Award-nominated single "Let You Get Away". Ashe also demonstrated her songwriting talent by co-writing Demi Lovato's 2017 track "You Don't Do It for Me Anymore".

After releasing her debut solo EP, The Rabbit Hole, in 2018, Ashe earned widespread critical acclaim for her 2019 EPs, Moral of the Story: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, both produced in collaboration with Finneas O'Connell. Ashe is based in Nashville, Tennessee. Much of her early songwriting, including her hit single "Moral of the Story," drew from her personal experiences processing a divorce in her mid-twenties. In 2025, she married musician John Canada, the drummer for the indie rock band The Brook & The Bluff.
