GMA Pictures has released the first official trailer for "Red Crown," an upcoming satirical comedy movie starring Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and actress Michelle Dee alongside Miss Universe 2025 third runner-up Ahtisa Manalo. The movie project was formally unveiled at the end of August, offering audiences an insider look into the competitive world of beauty pageants.
Directed by Dominic Zapata, "Red Crown" centers on a fictional competition titled "Queen of the Islands," bringing together a 25-member ensemble cast of pageant titleholders and television actors. The storyline pairs real-life pageant veterans with comedic stars, blending runway elegance with backstage comedic rivalry.
For Michelle Dee, the project represents a seamless fusion of her two main career tracks in entertainment and pageantry. Having represented the Philippines on global stages while concurrently developing a screen acting portfolio with GMA Network, Dee noted that her personal background made internalizing the script's pageant dynamics natural while presenting a fun creative challenge.
The theatrical release of "Red Crown" is scheduled for October 2026 across major cinemas in the Philippines, marking GMA Pictures' latest major feature film release for the fall season.
