British actor John Boyega officially offered fans a rare look into his private personal life on October 14, 2026, confirming that he is married and has welcomed a newborn baby boy. Sharing photos and video on social media alongside his wife, model and actress Lashontae "Tae" Heckard, the Star Wars star revealed that their son arrived "some time ago". The update came shortly after Boyega revealed in a interview that he had been quietly married for nearly two years.
In his heartfelt social media update, Boyega posted intimate family photos holding Heckard's baby bump as well as a video clip cradling his infant son. Reflecting on their low-key personal life, Boyega explained in a recent conversation with The Guardian that he and Heckard preferred celebrating their marriage as an established bond rather than hosting a large public ceremony at the beginning, though he noted they hope to hold a larger celebration with family in Nigeria in the future.
Boyega first captured the international spotlight with his starring role as Moses in the 2011 sci-fi comedy Attack the Block. His career reached global blockbuster heights in 2015 when he was cast as Finn, a reformed First Order stormtrooper, in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy, beginning with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. His performance in the franchise earned him the BAFTA Rising Star Award and global fan recognition.
Beyond sci-fi blockbusters, Boyega has consistently sought out challenging dramatic roles in film and television. He earned widespread critical acclaim and a Golden Globe Award for his powerful portrayal of Leroy Logan in Steve McQueen's anthology series Small Axe: Red, White and Blue (2020). He subsequently delivered lauded performances in the historical epic The Woman King (2022) alongside Viola Davis and the mystery comedy They Cloned Tyrone (2023).
Boyega continues to balance his expanding acting career with family life. With several film projects currently in production and development, the actor's recent openness about fatherhood has drawn warm congratulations from fans and industry peers worldwide.
