Alternative pop artist Nessa Barrett officially released her third full-length studio album, Tough Love, on September 25, 2026, through Warner Records. The 11-track project represents a major sonic and thematic milestone in Barrett’s ongoing musical journey. To celebrate the album's arrival, the singer hosted an intimate meet-and-greet and record signing event on September 26 at Fingerprints Music in Long Beach, California, where fans gathered for custom pressings of her indie-exclusive Cherry Venom vinyl edition.
Tough Love follows a busy year of releases for Barrett, who earlier in 2026 unveiled her eight-song EP Jesus Loves a Primadonna. Led by the dark-romantic single "Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die," the new album leans into brooding trip-hop textures, noir-rock guitar riffs, and personal, transparent storytelling. Across the record, Barrett explores complex themes of volatile romance, personal redemption, and emotional resilience, continuing to develop the gothic alt-pop aesthetic that has come to define her recent creative output.
Barrett first built a global following as a social media creator before successfully transitioning into mainstream music with her breakout 2021 single "I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead," which landed on the Billboard Hot 100. She built upon that initial momentum with her debut album Young Forever in 2022 and her sophomore record Aftercare in 2024. Over the past two years, Barrett has solidified her reputation as a compelling live performer, undertaking extensive headlining tours across North America, Europe, and Australia, including her 56-date Aftercare World Tour.
The launch of Tough Love establishes Barrett’s standing as one of alternative pop’s most distinct young songwriters. With physical media releases, specialized merch bundles, and scheduled promotional appearances supporting the record, Barrett continues to strengthen her connection with a loyal global fanbase. As her new songs enter streaming playlists and radio rotations, Tough Love marks the beginning of an ambitious new era in her recording and touring career.
